CHRISTMAS is just around the corner. Maybe you are worried about the recession, which is still hovering over your head. You know that you will need to buy Christmas gifts.
Early in the new year your son or daughter might be leaving to study at university or maybe they are returning to school for another year.
At this stage, careful planning could save you a whole lot of money. You will probably be asked to either buy a laptop or a computer. Or you may be told that you will have to provide internet access.
Balancing these requests during Christmas could make you the parent of the year. It could save you a lot of money in the next year.
Your budget will determine which models to buy, so I will give you some ideas.
Netbooks are great, and if you are able to afford it you can always think of buying a Samsung tablet or iPad. These new tablets are great, but in terms of functionality you will find it hard to beat a Netbook. You can install OpenOffice free of charge and it will provide you with most of the necessary tools.
The best option for connectivity at this stage is the CellC speedstick. You pay a fixed price, either per month or for the full year, and there will be no surprises. Connectivity is very important for research and for accessing class content and this is the best option available at the moment.
Lastly, shop around. There are many bargains available at the moment. You will get great deals online, so let your fingers and your feet do the walking.
